A quote indicates to your customer how much a job or a project will cost and which materials or services are involved. A quote is given before the job has started. Needs to meet certain requirements such as business and a customer name and address, a unique quote number, the description and prices of the product and services and the total amount.
An invoice is given to your customer when the job has finished and it is a formal request for payment for work that has been completed.
How to use quotes in Xero
1-Customise your quotes
2- Create a quote in Xero
- In the Business menu, select quotes.
- Click new, then select New quote
- Enter the quote information.
- Select the price and tax rate
- Add tasks, options and save the quote
3- Create an invoice from a quote
- In the Business menu, select Quotes.
- Select the Accepted Tab
- Select the checkbox next to the quote you want to invoice and click Create invoice.
- Select Mark as invoiced and then click Create. All the details from the quote will appear in the invoice,
- Review and make any other changes that you would like.
- Save the invoice as a draft or submit it for approval.
